This patch can be applied to PC-DCE  v4.0, 4.0.1, 4.0.2, 4.0.3, 4.0.4, 4.0.5, or 4.0.6.

Problems Fixed in This Release

Servers Dropping Connections to Client Applications

Improved dcecp's ACL management code so it is more robust when dealing with ACL managers.

Registry Data and Secd
Fixed a problem where secd might not correctly write its registry data to disk.

Long Error Messages
Long error messages (over 255 characters in length) were truncated. No error messages are truncated now.

Product Name

The product name was changed to
PC-DCE from NetCrusaderTM/DCE PC-DCETM in release 4.0.4. The previous name may still occur occasionally in the documentation and software.

Applying PC-DCE 4.0.7

To upgrade to PC-DCE 4.0.7:

  1. Download PC-DCE 4.0.7. (See "Obtaining PC-DCE 4.0.7" above for download links.)

  2. Using the PC-DCE Service Panel, stop PC-DCE on the host machine to which the patch will be applied.

  3. From a command line, run the patch utility by entering:

    For the standard version:
    patch-nt.exe -i PATCH407GA

    For the Terminal Server version:
    patch
    -nt.exe -i PATCH407TS

Note: If you are not in the directory where the .RTP file is located, specify the full path to the file. For example, enter:

    patch-nt.exe -i C:\mydir\mypath\PATCH407GA

  4. Reboot the machine.

Note: When the cell comes back up, it may take a minute or two for the daemons to resynchronize themselves with the master. Initially, the PC-DCE Service Panel may say the daemons are unavailable. After about one minute, click Refresh and the servers will run normally.
