DCE for Hewlett-Packard Tru64 UNIX v5.1
Version 4.1.6 (31-Dec-2002)
NOTE: There was a transition kit for v4.1.4 but there was not one for v4.1.5. or later releases. Third party applications that depend on DCE must be up-to-date and rebuilt.

Problems Fixed with 4.1.6

Fixed problems in the DFS kernel component:

Use the dcedfs.mod file in this kit with the vfs.mod from Hewlett Packard on AlphaServer SC systems. This will correct lock mode 4 violations.

Fixed:
-Unauthenticated and wrong user messages on the console log.

-System hang-up from a kernel call.
-Invalid reference count.

Fixed a dfsbind lock.

Obtaining 4.1.6

Click here to request a download of DCE 4.1.6

Applying 4.1.6

1) Back up the old files:
cp /sys/BINARY/dcedfs.mod /
   sys/BINARY/dcedfs.mod.v415

mv /usr/opt/DCE415/usr/bin/dfsbind
   /usr/opt/DCE415/usr/bin/dfsbind.v415

2) Copy over the new files:
cp dcedfs.mod /sys/BINARY/dcedfs.mod
cp dfsbind /usr/opt/DCE415/usr/bin/dfsbind
cp dfszcm.cat /usr/lib/nls/msg/
   en_US.ISO8859-1/dfszcm.cat

3) Rebuild the kernel (BuildKernels on AlphaServer SC machines)

4) Copy over the new kernel to /vmunix (DeployKernels on AlphaServer SC machines)

5) Reboot

IMPORTANT: Third-party software, such as HP OpenView, has to be up-to-date to work with this version.
